Dominion Resources Innovation Center
Smarter. Faster. Better. The Dominion Resources Innovation Center exists to help start-ups get to their goals smarter, faster, better. The Center is more than a co-working environment; it is a community of entreprenurial and creative thinkers seeking to accelerate the growth of their technology-based businesses in a supportive, highly-networked, work-not-play environment.
Founded in November 2009, the Dominion Resources Innovation Center is a local initiative that aims to attract technology-based and clean energy innovators that desire to accelerate the growth of their early and second-stage businesses. The Dominion Resources Innovation Center (previously known as the Dominion Resources GreenTech Incubator or DRGI) supports great ideas across a wide spectrum of industry sectors in addition to its original focus on building the alternative, renewable energy sector in Central Virginia. Founding partners of this program in addition to Hanover County include the signature sponsor, Dominion Resources, as well as The Virginia Biotechnology Research Park and the Town of Ashland.
Member companies, whether virtual or physically located tenants, benefit from access to on-staff mentoring, engaged guidance, beta testing on the Dominion Resources power grid, business advisory boards, a complete offering of business and other support services plus networking and educational programs.
The Innovation Center is located in the Town of Ashland and provides a range of office, office suite, cubicle, warehouse and loading docks designed to cost effectively serve the needs of start-up and second-stage companies.
The Dominion Resources Innovation Center is the home of Tech Challenge Hanover, a rigorous start-up competition for emerging and second-stage, technology or knowledge-based entrepreneurs who are looking for assistance in moving their ideas from concept to market and commercialization. Through this annual competition, participants can hone their ideas, get constructive and invaluable input from business professsional and compete to win the coveted $10,000 first place prize plus free tenancy prizes.
