Celebrate the 2015 Holiday in Hanover

From small community events to historic holiday traditions, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday season in Hanover. Here is a list of holiday events not to be missed:

Mechanicsville Christmas Parade
December 6, 2 p.m.
Sponsored by the Mechanicsville Rotary Club and the Mechanicsville Ruritan Club, the village parade showcases community talents in the spirit of the season. The 1.8-mile route begins on Signal Hill Road and travels through nearby neighborhoods and ends on Mechanicsville Turnpike. Proceeds benefit the local Christmas Mother campaign.

Tavern Live: Patrick Henry High School Madrigal Singers
December 6, 7 p.m.
Hanover Tavern (13181 Hanover Court House Road, Hanover, Virginia 23069)
Take a moment to celebrate both the quietness and unrestrained joy of the holiday season with winter and holiday music performed by The Patrick Henry High School Madrigal Singers under the direction of Carol Ann Dickerson. The event begins with a hors d'oeuvres reception followed by the holiday concert in the Bradley Theater at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.00. After the concert, the Madrigal Singers will lead the audience in a carol-sing and tree lighting.

Santa’s North Pole
December 12, 10 a.m. to noon
Montpelier Center for Art and Education (17205 Mountain Road, Montpelier, Virginia 23192)
The Montpelier Center is transformed in to Santa's North Pole. Visit with Santa and enjoy snacks, crafts and activities. No fees apply unless professional photos with Santa are purchased. This event is open to the public.

Christmas on the Home Front 1862
December 15, 6 p.m.
Hanover Tavern (13181 Hanover Court House Road, Hanover, Virginia 23069)
Take a glimpse into the lives of those living and working at the tavern during Christmas 1862.  Guided tours will be given every 30 minutes beginning at 6:00 PM.  Tickets for the tour are $8.00. Children under 12 are free.

A Colonial Christmas at Patrick Henry Scotchtown
December 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celebrate a simple 18th-century Christmas holiday at Patrick Henry's Scotchtown. Experience the beautiful natural decorations, historically appropriate foods, a boxwood wreath making craft workshop and other holiday surprises! An additional fee of $5 applies to the boxwood wreath workshop.

Candlelight Christmas Tour at Patrick Henry Scotchtown
December 12, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
December 13, 1p.m. to 5p.m.

Come see our house decorated for the Holidays, enter into the festivities of the season- Music, dancing, laughter and good food.

The Hanover Concert Band
December 15, 7 p.m.
Hanover Arts and Activities Center (500 South Center Street, Ashland)
The Hanover Concert Band will finish their 25th year with Christmas music, a Boston Pops-style seating arrangement, and light refreshments will be provided by the band members and their families. Admission cost is donations of non-perishable food for the Central Virginia Food Bank.
