GOGO BAND, a biotechnology company focused on curing a leading chronic health condition in children located in the Dominion Resources Innovation Center in Hanover, has been selected as one of seven startup ventures in the most recent cohort of Lighthouse Labs, a Richmond-based accelerator program.

Startups accepted into the Lighthouse Labs program receive a $20,000 grant and, over the course of 15 weeks, are connected with business mentors, investors, lean startup education, resources and the guidance needed to help become a high growth venture in the region.

Over the past three years, 20 companies have advanced through the program collectively raised more than $7 million in additional financing. The success of the Lighthouse Labs Accelerator Program has garnered national media attention as a top 25 accelerator program in the country by TechCrunch.

GOGO Band is a biotechnology start-up currently based out of the Dominion Resources Innovation Center in Ashland. The company has developed a wearable device that uses biometric technology to better analyze and treat certain chronic health conditions in children.

“Our entire GOGO BAND Team is ecstatic at being selected as one of the start-up companies for the Lighthouse Labs Fall Class of 2016,” says Jon Coble, GOGO BAND CEO. “We are convinced that with Lighthouse Labs world-class mentoring, coaching, knowledge and expertise in all of the mission critical areas needed by a start-up to succeed, that our dream of building a biotechnology to cure for one of the leading chronic health conditions that affects over 200 million children worldwide will be realized.”

The announcement was made at the third annual RVATech/jam, an all-day tech event put on by the Richmond Innovation Council that brings together the region’s innovative community to showcase local entrepreneurs and companies.
