Hanover’s Perspective

NewLine Hardscapes Acquires Facility in Doswell

York Building Products Company, a York, PA-based concrete products manufacturer, joined with a private group of Virginia-based investors to acquire the former Xteriors Hardscapes production facility in Doswell to create NewLine Hardscapes, LLC.  The purchase included a 17,000 SF plant with machinery, a sales office and 27 acres of zoned property.  The facility has been closed since May 2012 and was built in 2008 to produce concrete pavers, block wall systems and landscape edging products.

York has been supplying quality products to the building industry for more than 60 years. Throughout that time, their manufacturing focus has expanded from gray block to architectural block, retaining wall systems and colored mortar. In addition, the company has developed two quarries and mining operations throughout south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland from which they supply stone, sand and gravel to their seven block manufacturing plants and their two bituminous asphalt plants, as well as other manufacturing customers, state, commercial and residential construction projects. The company also operates two factory outlet retail stores which serve contractors in the Mid-Atlantic states.

The facility is located on International Street in Doswell and is in close proximity to I-95.   Situated halfway between Richmond and Fredericksburg, NewLine Hardscapes is slated to primarily serve primarily the greater VA/NC marketplace.  Products from the facility will also be distributed throughout south-central PA, MD, DE and WV through the York Building Products company.  The Doswell Company will produce concrete pavers, concrete block wall systems and landscape edging products.

“Hanover County is thrilled that NewLine purchased this nearly new production facility and will have the opportunity to employ a talented labor force drawn from recently closed concrete production operations in the immediate area”  said Aubrey M. (Bucky) Stanley, Board of Supervisors member representing the Beaverdam District. “This company clearly has plans to provide a quality product to their growing customer base, and we are confident that this location in Doswell on I-95 will allow quick and easy access to their distribution channels in our neighboring states.”

NewLine Hardscapes, LLC plans to eventually employ 25 people at the revived facility and has plans to be fully operational in February 2013.
