It’s no secret that fall makes us crazy for pumpkins! With approximately 600 farms located within Hanover County, we have a great selection of pumpkin patches the whole family will enjoy. Since we’re conveniently located within 30 miles of downtown Richmond, you won’t need to drive far to find the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating. So, gather the family, grab your favorite pumpkin spice latte and head to the pumpkin patch!

For the thrill seekers, Ashland Berry Farm, Hanover Vegetable Farm, and of course, Kings Dominion are all serving up spine-tingling haunted attractions. For a ghost walk steeped in historical lore, visit Hanover Tavern.

Ashland Berry Farm

Ashland Berry Farm offers free hayrides to the field to pick pumpkins. There is also a 3D Boo House, the Great Maze Adventure, gift shop, donut shop and animal corral.

Cost: Pumpkins are all you can carry for $20.

Open: Monday-Friday 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last hayride at 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 4:30 p.m. on weekends.

Haunts: Terror on the Farm

Hanover Vegetable Farm

You can find the perfect pumpkin at Hanover Vegetable Farm any day of the week. On the weekends, additional activities include hayrides, pumpkin picking, corn maze, animal petting/viewing, giant sand pit, corn sling shots, pallet maze, Charlotte’s Web hide-and-seek area, food trucks, beer and wine, and live music. See their calendar of events for specific attractions available on any given date.

Cost: Pumpkins are priced per pound. On weekends, admission is $5-$10 per person based on activity level.

Pumpkin Picking Hours: Weekdays 2:00 p.m. to 6: 00 p.m.; Weekends 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Special Event: Gourds, Goblets and Ghouls Festival – October 13th and 14th.

Haunts: Red Vein Haunted House

Lloyd Family Farms

Lloyd Family Farms has a 50+ acre pumpkin patch with a great selection of a variety of pumpkins and gourds. Additional activities include hayrides, pony rides, a corn maze and more. Food vendors will be on-site.

Cost: Admission is $5 per person, 2 years old and under are free. Pumpkins are priced individually by the pound. Additional fees may apply for other activities.

Hours: Fridays 1:00 p.m. – sundown; Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. – sundown

Windy Knoll Farm

At Windy Knoll Farm, you can take a hay ride to the field to pick your pumpkin or choose from hundreds that are available located by the Christmas Cottage. Pumpkin picking is on Friday and Saturday only.

Cost: Pumpkins are priced per pound.

Hours: Friday 1-5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday: Closed

Kings Dominion – Haunt

Terror lurks around every corner at the annual Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion. From the thrilling rides to the frightful attractions, you’re in for some extreme screams. Over 400 monsters will descend upon the park each night of Haunt this fall.

Kings Dominion – The Great Pumpkin Fest

Families and kids can participate in a collection of scare-free Halloween activities for kids presented by the PEANUTS characters like pumpkin decorating and so much more!  Saturdays and Sundays.

Hanover Tavern – Ghosts Walk At Night

Tour the haunted Tavern, Old Stone Jail, and Historic Courthouse and hear ghostly tales of actual events and recorded paranormal activity at each location. You never know what might be lurking around! Proceeds benefit the Hanover Tavern Foundation.

Cost: $15 per person.
