Governor Announces New Grant Program for VA Grown Products
Governor McDonnell announced a new grant program yesterday to assist local efforts in expanding current or attracting new agriculture and forestry processing/value-added facilities using Virginia grown products.
The new legislation establishes a new economic development tool specifically for agriculture and forestry value-added or processing projects. Created as the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund (AFID), the legislation passed and was funded with broad bipartisan support from the Virginia General Assembly.
