The Richmond Times-Dispatch annually surveys businesses in the 13 localities of the Richmond-Petersburg metropolitan statistical area. The Times-Dispatch’s list of the top area employers was compiled by the business news staff using information provided by the employers and the Virginia Employment Commission. Note: Some companies combine headquarters and local branch locations in their employment numbers.
