Fall Fun at the Hanover AutumnFest and 5K

Hanover AutumnFest, presented this year by Anton Paar, will be back again on September 30th at the historic Hanover Tavern. The event includes Kids 1K Fun Run and 5K Race, followed by a festival of live music, local craft beer, Virginia wine, fall harvest foods, and family activities!

The AutumnFest 5K starts at the Hanover County Courthouse complex, continues past historic Hanover Tavern, through the scenic back roads of Hanover County, past historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and finishes near the start. The Kids 1K Fun Run encourages children to get in on the fitness fun. The Kids 1K Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m. while the 5K starts at 10 a.m.

After racers cross the finish line, Hanover AutumnFest kicks off with a wide array of activities for every member of the family from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the grounds of historic Hanover Tavern. Local craft beer and Virginia wines will quench your thirst and accompany mouth-watering offerings by Hanover Tavern Restaurant & Pub. Family activities include pumpkin painting, petting zoo, hay slide, face painting, magic show, balloon art, history scavenger hunt and more.

A variety of bands and musical artists will entertain at AutumnFest with the first act hitting the stage at 11:00 a.m. Guests can soak up the grooves of local favorites including Hardin’ Retty and the Anvil Brothers, Uncle Drew and the Powhite Boys, Nick Faulconer and performances by the winners and runners-up of Hanover Idol and Hanover Idol Junior. Other activities for this daylong event include corn hole, tours of the Court House and Old Stone Jail and the “Ye Olde” Photo Opp in front of an antique carriage.

Proceeds from this event benefit Hanover Tavern Foundation with a mission is to preserve, interpret and utilize Hanover Tavern as an historic, educational, community and cultural resource center for the enjoyment of all. The Tavern is an 18th century landmark located in Hanover Courthouse, Virginia, and one of the oldest taverns in the United States.
