It’s no secret that fall makes us crazy for pumpkins! With approximately 600 farms located within Hanover County, we have a great selection pumpkin patches the whole family will enjoy. And, since we’re conveniently located within 30 miles of downtown Richmond, you won’t need to drive far to find the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating. So, gather the family, grab your favorite pumpkin spice latte and head to the pumpkin patch!
In the event of inclement weather, we recommend calling ahead to ensure that fields are open for picking.
Ashland Berry Farm

Ashland Berry Farm offers free hayrides to the field to pick pumpkins. There is also a Boo House, gift shop, donut shop (weekends) and animal corral (weekends). In search of extra screams and chills? See information on website.
Cost: Pumpkins are $3-20. All you can carry for $20.
Open: Monday-Friday 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last hayride at 5 p.m. on weekdays and 4:30 p.m. on weekends.
Ashwood Gardens and Pumpkin Patch

Ashwood Gardens has a pumpkin patch with free hayrides available on weekends. On weekdays, you can take a short walk out to the field. Stop by and visit their friendly goats. The garden center also has a great selection of fall décor, plants and fairy garden accessories.
Cost: Pumpkins are 49 cents/pound. All you can carry, from the field for $20.
Open: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday 12:00- 5 p.m.
Hanover Vegetable Farm

Hanover Vegetable Farm offers the perfect pumpkin at Hanover Vegetable Farm any day of the week. On the weekends, additional activities include hayrides, pumpkin picking, corn maze, bounce house, animal petting/viewing, sand pit, pony rides, obstacle course, bounce house, pallet maze, Charlotte’s Web hide-and-seek area, food trucks, beer and wine, and live music. Cost: Pumpkins are priced per pound. On weekends, admission is $5-$10 per person based on activity level.
Pumpkin Picking Hours: Weekdays 2:00 p.m. to 6: 00 p.m.; Weekends – 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Lloyd Family Farms

Lloyd Family Farms has a pumpkin patch with a great selection of a variety of pumpkins and gourds. Additional activities include hayrides, a corn maze and tour the working horse farm. Other activities such as face painting and pony rides are available for an additional fee.
Cost: Admission is $5 per person, 2 years old and under are free. Pumpkins are priced individually by the pound. Prices will range between $1-30.
Hours: Fridays 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

At Windy Knoll Farm, you can take a hay ride to the field to pick your pumpkin or choose from hundreds that are available located by the Christmas Cottage. Pumpkin picking is on Friday and Saturday only.
